National Conferences and Workshops

This page refers to national meetings, workshops and training seminars of interest to forensic practitioners.  Many of the workshops detailed are of a technical nature designed for forensic practitioners only.  There are a number of organisations that provide training in the provision of expert evidence.

The listing of a program on this site should not be assumed to represent an endorsement by the National Institute of Forensic Science of that program.

Workshops may be organised or managed by NIFS. Other groups involved may include the Senior Managers of Australian and New Zealand Forensic Laboratories (SMANZFL) and the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS). 

SMANZFL personnel are automatically invited to NIFS workshops/seminars/meetings in accordance with the spirit of the NIFS Enabling (Foundation) Agreement.  They are listed on the NIFS website.  However, NIFS also reserves the right to invite Australasian private individuals/companies/government agencies/academics that are external to SMANZFL and law enforcement to its workshops/seminars/meetings/
conferences etc to present and/or participate.  The decision will always be made following consultation with the SMANZFL Chair and/or appropriate SAG Chair and/or SMANZFL mentor.  Click here to view Policy document.

Some workshops are limited to representatives from SMANZFL Laboratories or invited persons. This symbol..... indicates a restricted workshop.

For NIFS sponsored workshops you may request a flight to workshops through NIFS if you are an eligible forensic practitioner.  To do so complete the a booking form and return to NIFS by post or fax.
